Two Day Cutting Horse Clinic

March 21 – March 22

This two-day Cutting Horse Clinic & Jackpot is designed to help HS Rodeo cutters and beginner cutters build confidence in the show pen while having fun in a low‑pressure environment. Riders will work in small groups with clinician/judge Tom Bjorklund to get one‑on‑one coaching on correct position, timing, and effective use of their horse on a cow.

What we will cover

  • Reading cattle and safely entering the herd.
  • Driving and separating a cow, setting it up in the working area.
  • Correct form and cow sense for both horse and rider.
  • Improving stops, turns, and draw on a cow.
  • Show‑pen strategy, scoring basics, and what a judge is looking for.

Format of the weekend

  • Day 1: Dry work, flag work (if available), followed by controlled cow work on live cattle. Riders will have multiple turns to work a cow with coaching before and after each run.
  • Day 2: Additional coaching in the morning, then a relaxed jackpot where riders can put their new skills to use in a show‑style setting, with the same judge offering feedback.

Who should attend

  • HS Rodeo contestants who cut and want more focused cow‑horse time.
  • New or green cutters looking for a structured, supportive clinic setting.
  • Riders wanting to better understand judging, rules, and how to improve their scores.
